The Ogun State Police Command says it is investigating the reported arrest of the state chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Abayomi Tella, along with two Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) staff — Toryem Joe-Stans and Mandara Amina Mamman — in Iperu Remo on Saturday.

They were allegedly caught with a large sum of money suspected to be for vote buying during the Remo Federal Constituency by-election.

Commissioner of Police Lanre Ogunlowo confirmed the investigation but declined to give details, urging the public to await further information.

A viral video claimed the INEC staff were found “hobnobbing” with politicians, and that the money was traced to a hotel where Tella and others were allegedly present.

Tella, however, denied any involvement, insisting he knew nothing about the money and was waiting for the police to explain why he was being held.
