Police Kill Bandit in Gun Battle, Regain Control of Attacked Community

Police operatives in Benue State have shot and killed a bandit after an intense gun battle with armed criminals who attacked farmers in Tse Anyineku community, located in Zaki-Biam, Ukum Local Government Area.

The clash happened on Thursday morning after the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ukum received a distress call around 11:05 am. Police patrol teams were quickly sent to the area.

Sources said the bandits had invaded the community, targeting farmers on their farmland. When police arrived, the bandits opened fire, but the police responded with superior firepower, forcing the attackers to flee into the nearby Shetile forest.

During the exchange, one of the bandits, identified as Terhile Ashiwa from Ucha Mbatyu in Ukum, was critically wounded.
He was rushed to the General Hospital in Zaki-Biam, where doctors confirmed him dead. His body has been taken to the hospital mortuary for autopsy.
