Police Arrest Suspects Over Land Dispute in Abuja

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has confirmed the arrest of several individuals following a violent outbreak stemming from a land dispute in the Bwari Area Council of Abuja.
The incident occurred on Friday in the Kuchibyi community, located under the jurisdiction of the Byazin Police Division. According to police authorities, tensions flared after disagreements over land ownership escalated into a civil disturbance, prompting immediate law enforcement intervention.
Spokesperson for the FCT Police Command, SP Josephine Adeh, stated that the situation has since been brought under control, and investigations are ongoing to determine the root cause of the unrest and those responsible for inciting violence.
She also assured residents of the area that the police would continue to maintain peace and order, warning against taking the law into one’s hands in matters involving land or property.
> “We urge all residents to seek lawful and peaceful channels for resolving disputes, especially those related to land. Anyone found violating the law will face the full consequences,” Adeh stated.
While the exact number of arrests was not disclosed, sources within the community reported that multiple suspects were apprehended for allegedly participating in the unrest.
The police have also called on community leaders and stakeholders to assist in ensuring continued peace and to avoid the reoccurrence of such disturbances.
