Police arrest suspects across Lagos on 7/7 Cultism Day

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested an unspecified number of suspected cultists during a major operation on Monday, timed to coincide with the annual “7/7 Cultism Day” — a day often associated with rival cult clashes and violence.
The arrests came shortly after the command had issued a strong warning to cult groups. According to the command’s spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, multiple police units were mobilised, including the Anti-Cultism Squads, Special Tactical Squads, Police Mobile Force, and the State Intelligence Department.
Police sources told PUNCH that raids were conducted in hotspots such as Ikorodu, Idimu, Mushin, Bariga, and Iyana Iba, where cult members were believed to have gathered.
> “The combined efforts of the officers led to the arrest of suspects caught planning to celebrate the day,” a source said.
“Some weapons, charms, and other exhibits were recovered from them.”
