PMI Global Summit To Strengthen Project Management In Africa

The Project Management Institute has announced the return of its premier African event, PMI Global Summit Series Africa 2025, reaffirming its commitment to strengthening project management capabilities across Africa.
The summit themed ‘Africa on Purpose: Gather. Grow. Guide.’ is scheduled to take place from August 19 to 21, 2025, at the Kigali Convention Centre, Rwanda.
This marks a highly anticipated comeback following its postponement in 2024, reaffirming PMI’s commitment to strengthening project management capabilities across Africa.
Speaking, PMI’s Sub-Saharan Africa’s Managing Director, George Asamani, emphasised that Rwanda was the natural choice for the Summit’s return due to its innovation-driven economy, resilience, and commitment to progress.
He lauded the efforts of Rwanda’s project management community, stating, “Their dedication has laid a strong foundation for a summit that will be even more impactful, relevant, and future-focused.”
He added that the youth edition of the programme will equip young professionals, students, and emerging leaders with skills for success in project management through sessions on leadership, career development, and entrepreneurship.
PMI Rwanda Chapter President Innocent Kayigamba said, “This global experience will empower African professionals with world-class insights, expertise, and networking opportunities, enabling them to drive meaningful change in their industries and communities.
“As Africa expands its economic and infrastructure development, PMI’s role in building project management capacity remains critical. By fostering an early appreciation for project management principles, we reinforce our commitment to Africa’s talent pipeline and the continent’s sustainable growth.”
