PETROAN Urges President Tinubu to Address Delays in Refinery Rehabilitation Projects

The Petroleum Products Retail Outlets Owners Association of Nigeria (PETROAN) has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to urgently intervene in the prolonged delays surrounding the rehabilitation of the Port Harcourt, Warri, and Kaduna refineries.
In a statement released on Monday by PETROAN spokesperson Joseph Obele, the association’s National President, Billy Gillis-Harry, expressed concern over the stalled progress in revamping the three major refineries, particularly the 210,000 barrels-per-day Port Harcourt refinery.
Gillis-Harry emphasized that the continued delay is contributing to fuel price instability and negatively affecting the national economy. He urged the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) to provide a specific and realistic timeline for the completion and commissioning of the rehabilitation projects.
“Completing these refinery projects will significantly reduce the cost of transporting petroleum products from Lagos to the System 2E areas,” Gillis-Harry stated. He highlighted that the completion of the second Port Harcourt refinery would be especially critical, as it is expected to serve approximately 13 states within the System 2E network
