Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Mbah announced his decision at a press conference in Enugu, saying it followed “a long period of reflection” and was aimed at better serving the people of the state.

He said his defection was driven by a shared vision with President Bola Tinubu for transformative governance and inclusive development.

Mbah was joined by his predecessor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, as well as several state and federal lawmakers, local government chairmen, and political appointees—signifying a major political shift in Enugu.

He thanked the PDP for its support but lamented that the South-East’s loyalty to the party had often gone unrewarded.

“I have found in His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, a partner in purpose,” Mbah stated, expressing optimism that the move would usher in “a new era of development and progress” for Enugu State.
