PDP Strong, United, Ready to Shock Critics in 2027 — Makinde
Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, on Friday declared that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) remains strong, united and fully prepared to surprise its critics ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Makinde made this assertion while speaking to party stakeholders, insisting that despite internal challenges and defections, the PDP is far from weakened and is steadily repositioning itself for a major comeback.
According to the governor, the PDP’s strength lies in its deep democratic culture, nationwide structure and commitment to good governance, noting that the party has continued to deliver results in states under its control.
“The PDP is very much alive, strong and united. Those writing us off ahead of 2027 will be shocked. We are rebuilding, reorganising and reconnecting with Nigerians at all levels,” Makinde said.
He dismissed claims that recent political realignments had diminished the party’s chances, stressing that elections are won based on performance, credibility and connection with the people, not propaganda.
Makinde further stated that the PDP remains focused on addressing the concerns of Nigerians, especially issues of insecurity, economic hardship and governance, adding that the party would present credible candidates capable of offering solutions.
The Oyo governor urged party members to remain steadfast and avoid distractions, calling for unity, internal democracy and discipline as key pillars for victory in future elections.
He reaffirmed his confidence in the PDP leadership, noting that ongoing reconciliation efforts within the party would further strengthen its chances ahead of the 2027 polls.
