Otu Hails Tinubu Over South-South Commission

Cross River State Governor, Bassey Otu, has praised President Bola Tinubu for establishing the South-South Development Commission (SSDC), describing it as a long-overdue step toward addressing the region’s developmental needs.
In a statement on Saturday, Otu said the commission represents a turning point for the oil-rich region, which has contributed greatly to Nigeria’s wealth without a matching framework for development.
He commended the President’s “equity-driven leadership and uncommon vision” in creating the body, and congratulated members of the newly inaugurated board, sworn in on Thursday by Minister of Regional Development, Abubakar Momoh.
The governor also celebrated the appointment of two Cross River indigenes, Soni Abang and Larry Odey, urging them to see their roles not as mere political positions but as a call to service for the people.
