Senator Adams Oshiomhole has dismissed claims that the 10th National Assembly is a “rubber stamp” for the executive, arguing that lawmakers were not elected to engage in conflict with President Bola Tinubu.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Sunday, the senator representing Edo North and former Edo State governor defended the legislature against growing criticism, stating that cooperation with the presidency should not be mistaken for weakness or lack of independence.

> “There’s a perception that the National Assembly is a rubber stamp? So if we start boxing the presidency just to prove independence, then we become a bunch of rascals. Is that what we were elected for — to go and box?” Oshiomhole said.
