Onitsha Shooting: Soludo Orders Arrest of Security Operatives
Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has ordered the arrest of members of the Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra (OCHA Brigade) who were involved in a shooting at Emeka Offor Plaza, Onitsha Main Market.
The governor said the suspects must be handed over to the police for prosecution. He also directed that victims of the incident should be given proper medical treatment.
The state Commissioner for Information, Law Mefor, confirmed this in a statement on Tuesday.
According to him, the government is aware of the disturbance caused by the brigade’s actions and appreciates the police for quickly restoring calm in the market.
Unfortunately, one of the victims, identified as Miss Chinwe Igwe, was confirmed dead at the hospital. Others who sustained injuries are currently receiving treatment.
