NUTM President Urges Schools to Build Tech-Driven, Ethical Leaders

The President of the Nigerian University of Technology and Management (NUTM), Dr. Babs Omotowa, has called on educational institutions across Africa to focus on developing ethical and innovative leaders equipped to drive technological transformation on the continent.
In a statement released on Thursday, Dr. Omotowa emphasized the urgent need for African countries to redesign their educational curricula to focus on problem-solving, entrepreneurship, technology, and leadership.
“The world is evolving rapidly, and it is imperative that African schools produce graduates who can lead in the digital and technological space,” he said.
Highlighting the mission of NUTM, Dr. Omotowa explained that the institution is more than a university — it is a movement committed to building a new generation of leaders who can drive Africa’s development from within.
“With a world-class faculty drawn from prestigious institutions like MIT, Yale, and INSEAD, NUTM offers a hands-on, problem-solving approach to learning,” he noted. “We are shaping students who will lead Africa’s digital future with integrity and innovation.”
He revealed that NUTM is actively expanding its academic offerings to include high-demand fields such as Robotics, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Advanced Computing. These programmes will complement existing undergraduate courses in Computer Science, Information Technology, and Cybersecurity, as well as postgraduate degrees in Data Science, Software Engineering, Technology, Entrepreneurship, and Management.
