NPU Commends Fubara, Urges Nigerians to Embrace Unity

The National President of the Northern Peoples Union, Alhaji Abu Mohammed, has urged Nigerians to reject divisive tendencies and promote peace, unity, and tolerance as the country marked its 65th Independence anniversary.
Speaking at a press conference in Kaduna on Wednesday, Mohammed commended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, for his peace-building efforts, describing them as a model for national cohesion.
He explained that the Union was established to foster unity and tackle social vices such as tribalism, religious intolerance, and moral decline, which, he noted, continue to impede Nigeria’s progress.
According to him, the organisation is not a political association but a social movement committed to justice, equity, and the promotion of national values.
“Our Union was founded on the principles of mutual cooperation, unity, and the collective determination to confront tribalism, religious intolerance, and moral decay. We stand as a beacon of hope for Nigerians, committed to tolerance, cohesion, and easing the suffering caused by systemic challenges,” Mohammed stated.
He further disclosed that the group had developed empowerment and mentorship initiatives targeting young Nigerians, aimed at equipping them with the skills needed for a productive future.
