Nigerian delegation arrives in Saudi Arabia for Aminu Dantata’s burial

A Nigerian government delegation has arrived in Madinah, Saudi Arabia, ahead of the burial of prominent businessman and elder statesman, Aminu Dantata, who died on Saturday in Abu Dhabi at the age of 94.

According to a statement issued by the Special Assistant to the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Rabiu Ibrahim, the delegation departed Nigeria late Sunday and landed in the holy city early Monday.

The team is led by the Minister of Defence and former Jigawa State Governor, Muhammad Badaru Abubakar. Other members include the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Prince Lateef Fagbemi; Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris; and Minister of State for Housing Development, Yusuf Abdullahi Ata.

Also part of the delegation are respected Islamic clerics Dr Bashir Aliyu Umar, Sheikh Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa, and Khalifa Abdullahi Muhammad, who serves as the Imam of Dantata Mosque in Abuja.

On arrival, they were received by officials of Nigeria’s Consulate General in Jeddah, led by Ambassador Muazzam Ibrahim Nayaya, who has been overseeing funeral arrangements.

The burial is scheduled to take place later on Monday.
