The Nigeria Police Force has summoned several officers captured in viral videos exhibiting unprofessional conduct, as part of disciplinary action to uphold accountability and ethical standards within the force.

This development was confirmed in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Muyiwa Adejobi, in Abuja.

According to the statement, the cases involve officers stationed in Benin, Edo State, and a traffic officer operating in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The Edo-based officers, identified as members of the Zone 5 Zonal Counter-Terrorism Unit (ZCA), were reportedly involved in multiple complaints of highhandedness along Airport Road in Benin.

“These officers were summoned to the Force Headquarters in Abuja two days ago and are currently undergoing an orderly room trial in line with police disciplinary procedures,” Adejobi disclosed.

In a separate incident, an Assistant Superintendent of Traffic (AST) was captured in a viral video on Monday, May 5, 2025, acting in a manner that contravenes the Nigeria Police Force’s Standard Operating Procedures. The officer has also been identified and summoned to Abuja.

“As part of the ongoing administrative review, the officer has been issued a formal query for his unprofessional and uncivil conduct,” the statement added.

The Nigeria Police reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, accountability, and professionalism. Adejobi further praised members of the public for their vigilance and willingness to speak out against misconduct.

“Your voice is vital in helping us serve you better,” he said.
