New York Jets Owner Buys 43% Stake in Crystal Palace

Woody Johnson, owner of the New York Jets and former U.S. ambassador to the U.K., has agreed to purchase a 43% stake in English football club Crystal Palace, previously held by American businessman John Textor.
Palace recently made history by winning the FA Cup and qualifying for European competition for the first time. However, Textor’s existing majority stake in French club Lyon, who also qualified for the Europa League, posed a conflict under UEFA’s multi-club ownership rules.
Since Palace finished 12th in the Premier League and Lyon 6th in Ligue 1, the Eagles risked being blocked from European play.
The deal—reportedly worth £190 million ($255 million)—could clear the way for Palace to secure their Europa League spot.
The club said the sale is pending Premier League and Women’s Super League approval, but they do not expect any issues.
