Ndume to El-Rufai: You’re Facing Consequences of Betraying Amaechi

Senator Ali Ndume, representing Borno South Senatorial District, has said that Nasir El-Rufai may be facing the consequences of his past political choices, particularly his switch in allegiance from Rotimi Amaechi to President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2022 APC presidential primaries.
Ndume, who served as the Director-General of the Amaechi Presidential Campaign, made this comment during an interview on Arise News on Tuesday. He recalled how El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State, initially pledged support to Amaechi but later shifted his loyalty to Tinubu after a separate consultation visit by the then-aspirant.
“El-Rufai was supposed to be on our side, but somehow, he moved over. I think these are part of the things that are frustrating him,” Ndume said.
He added that while El-Rufai played a significant role in mobilising support for Tinubu, he now appears to be disillusioned with the outcome of that support. Despite Tinubu’s reported invitation for El-Rufai to join his administration, the former governor has remained absent from the federal cabinet.
