“Muslims Also Being Killed in Nigeria” — Trump Admits
Former United States President Donald Trump has acknowledged that Muslims are also victims of killings and widespread violence in Nigeria, countering claims that the country’s security crisis affects only one religious group.
Trump made the statement while speaking on Nigeria’s worsening insecurity, noting that the violence sweeping across parts of the country has claimed the lives of both Christians and Muslims, as armed groups continue attacks on communities.
According to him, the situation in Nigeria is complex and multi-layered, involving terrorism, banditry, kidnappings, and communal conflicts that cut across religious and ethnic lines. He stressed that innocent civilians, regardless of faith, have suffered heavily from the prolonged crisis.
Nigeria has faced years of deadly attacks linked to Boko Haram and Islamic State affiliates in the North-East, banditry and mass kidnappings in the North-West, and farmer-herder clashes in parts of the Middle Belt. Security analysts have repeatedly warned against framing the violence as purely religious, arguing that economic hardship, weak security structures, and poor governance also fuel the conflict.
Trump’s remarks come amid renewed international debate over Nigeria’s security challenges and calls for stronger measures to protect civilians and restore stability.
As of the time of filing this report, the Nigerian government has not officially responded to Trump’s comments.
