Mixed Reactions Trail Makinde’s N63.5 Billion Government House Renovation Plan

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has come under public scrutiny following his announcement to renovate the Agodi Government House at a cost of ₦63.5 billion.
The historic residence, formerly known as Oke Ebo, was constructed during the colonial era and has served as the official residence for successive governors — both military and civilian — from the days of the Western Region, Western State, old Oyo State, and the present-day Oyo State.
Governor Makinde revealed the renovation plan during a State of the State address delivered at the Oyo State House of Assembly Complex, located at the Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan. The event was part of a broader reflection on the government’s achievements and future priorities.
Speaking at the event, Makinde highlighted that Oyo State has become an attractive destination for investment, crediting this to his administration’s pragmatic policies and innovative governance approach aimed at solving complex issues with simple, effective solutions.
