The Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, has appealed to the institution’s striking staff to end their industrial action and return to work on Monday, August 11, 2025.

In a statement titled “It’s Time to Move Forward” posted on LASU’s official X page on Saturday, Olatunji-Bello described the past two weeks without academic activities as “deafening” and said the absence of learning and work on campus had “weighed heavily” on her heart.

While acknowledging the grievances that led to the strike, she assured staff that “our voices have been heard” and reaffirmed that staff welfare remains central to her administration’s agenda since assuming office in September 2021.

She highlighted several achievements under her leadership, including a 100% end-of-year bonus for all staff, prompt promotions, employment and admission opportunities for staff families, regular salary payment before the 23rd of each month, amnesty promotions, and full payment of Earned Academic Allowances.
