Ladoja receives Akoko leaves ahead of crowning as 44th Olubadan

The Afobaje of Ibadanland, Chief Waheed Popoola of the Labosinde Compound, Oja’ba, in Ibadan South East Local Government Area of Oyo State, has placed the traditional Akoko leaves on the head of former Oyo State governor, Oba Rashidi Ladoja.
The symbolic act, performed amidst loud cheers from a large crowd, marks the final step before Ladoja’s movement to the Ose Meji House, where he will be officially crowned as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland.
Ladoja’s emergence follows the passing of the 43rd Olubadan, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, who died on July 7, 2025.
Dignitaries present at the ceremony included the High Chief of Ibadanland, Aare Latoosa, Chief Onikepo Akande, and other notable personalities.
