The Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) has welcomed the appointment of Prof. Shehu Abdulrahman as the new Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the Federal Teaching Hospital (FTH), Lokoja, Kogi State.
The development is seen as a major step toward resolving a prolonged dispute within the hospital, which had affected operations and staff morale. Stakeholders say the appointment also marks the completion of efforts to reinstate previously disengaged doctors.
NARD expressed optimism that the new CMD will foster unity, improve working conditions and strengthen healthcare delivery in the institution. The association also called for continued collaboration between management and staff to ensure stability and progress.
Prof. Abdulrahman is expected to focus on restoring confidence in the hospital system, enhancing service delivery and addressing lingering administrative challenges.
Observers note that the resolution of the dispute could significantly improve healthcare services in the region and reduce disruptions in medical care.
