Two suspected kidnappers were killed during a fierce gun battle with police operatives in an operation that led to the successful rescue of relatives of former Minister of Power and Oyo APC governorship aspirant, Chief Adebayo Adelabu.
The rescued victims include Adelabu’s younger sister, Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, who were abducted while travelling to school in Ibadan.
According to police sources, the rescue followed days of intelligence gathering, surveillance, and coordinated tactical operations aimed at locating the kidnappers and securing the victims’ release.
The operation culminated in an exchange of gunfire between security operatives and the kidnappers, during which two suspects were neutralised and firearms recovered.
Authorities confirmed that the victims were rescued unharmed, bringing an end to days of anxiety and tension among family members and residents.
Police have since launched a manhunt for other members of the kidnapping gang who escaped during the operation, with some of the fleeing suspects believed to have sustained gunshot wounds.
