Kebbi Govt Considers Death Penalty for Bandit Informants Amid Rising Attacks

The Kebbi State Government is considering introducing death penalty or life imprisonment for individuals found guilty of serving as informants to bandits, following a surge in violent attacks across the state.
Governor Nasiru Idris revealed the plan during condolence visits to Tadurga village in Zuru and Kyebu in Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area — two communities recently hit by deadly attacks that claimed at least 30 lives.
Speaking to residents, Governor Idris condemned the actions of informants, describing them as a serious threat to public safety and national security. He emphasized that his administration maintains a zero-tolerance policy on insecurity and would not hesitate to implement stricter legal measures to curb the menace.
> “Informants are just as dangerous as the bandits themselves. We are reviewing the law to impose the harshest possible punishment — including the death penalty or life imprisonment — for anyone caught aiding criminals,” the governor declared.
