Katsina Govt Revokes Licences of Private, Community Schools

The Katsina State Government has withdrawn the operational licences of all private and community schools in the state.
This was disclosed in a circular issued by the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Zainab Musa-Musawa, and released on Saturday by the ministry’s Public Relations Officer, Sani Danjuma.
According to the statement, the revocation follows a new policy approved by the State Executive Council as part of ongoing reforms in the education sector.
“All previously issued operational licences to private and community schools stand terminated with effect from August 13, 2025,” the circular stated.
The commissioner explained that the move is in line with Katsina’s educational reform agenda, which focuses on quality assurance, standardisation, and proper regulation of teaching and learning.
She added that the state government has reviewed its policies on licence application, school registration, annual renewals, and upgrade fees, following a sensitisation exercise for stakeholders held on June 2, 2025.
