Katsina Approves Over ₦372m Bursary for 24,452 Students

The Katsina State Scholarship Board has announced that Governor Dikko Radda has approved more than ₦372 million in bursary allowances for 24,452 continuing students.
The Executive Secretary of the board, Dr. Aminu Salisu-Tsauri, confirmed the approval in a statement issued on Tuesday in Katsina.
He described the governor’s action as a demonstration of his commitment to human capital development and his belief that education remains the bedrock of peace, prosperity, and sustainable growth.
According to him, the Radda-led administration has consistently prioritised students’ welfare through regular bursary disbursements.
> “The government had disbursed more than ₦637.9 million to 47,935 students (2020/2021 fresh and 2021/2022 continuing students), while ₦544.2 million was also disbursed to 37,802 students (2021/2022 fresh and 2022/2023 continuing).
In addition, more than ₦744.1 million was disbursed to 50,438 students for the 2022/2023 fresh and 2023/2024 continuing,” Salisu-Tsauri explained.
He further disclosed that approvals would soon be granted for the 2024/2025 local scholarships for 12,609 fresh students, alongside awards for academic excellence and special scholarships for students with special needs.
With these interventions, the total number of beneficiaries of bursary and scholarship schemes under the current administration has risen to 174,461 students.
Salisu-Tsauri assured that arrangements were underway to ensure seamless and timely disbursement of the newly approved bursary funds. He added that beyond local support, Governor Radda has also sponsored students abroad to study in highly specialised and competitive fields.
The development comes weeks after the state government revoked the licences of all private and community schools in Katsina, a move the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Zainab Musa-Musawa, said was aimed at ensuring quality assurance, standardisation, and proper regulation of teaching and learning.
