Kano, Turkish Foundation Partner to Boost Development

Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has restated that his government is ready to work with organisations that want to improve the lives of the people.
He said this on Tuesday when he welcomed officials of a Turkish humanitarian foundation, İnsana Değer Veren Dernekler Federasyonu (IDDEF), at the Government House.
According to a statement from his Chief Press Secretary, Mustapha Muhammad, the governor said the partnership fits into his plan to make life better for Kano residents. He explained that his administration has already recorded progress in education, healthcare, infrastructure, and skills training within the last two years.
Yusuf added that more humanitarian support will help reduce poverty, empower youths, and improve social welfare.
He said:
> “Our administration remains open to partnerships that bring value to the lives of our people. IDDEF’s work in health, education, and humanitarian relief matches our priorities.”
A trustee of IDDEF, Sheikh Rasul Jawad, explained that the foundation was set up 30 years ago by Turkish Islamic cleric Sheikh Mahamud Efendi. He noted that IDDEF is now active in 60 countries, including Nigeria, and focuses on education and humanitarian services.
Also, IDDEF’s Nigerian coordinator, Dr. Askiya Nasiru Kabara, listed their projects in education, healthcare, clean water supply, and male child circumcision. He also announced that a new college named after Sheikh Mahamud Efendi will soon open in Kano.
Arewa PUNCH reports that with a population of over 15 million, Kano State has in recent years been seeking international partnerships to push development in health and education.
