Kalu Distributes Free School Uniforms to Pupils in Abia North

Orji Uzor Kalu has distributed free school uniforms to pupils in more than 300 primary schools across Abia North Senatorial District, as part of his ongoing education-support initiative.

The distribution, which covered public primary schools in the district’s five local government areas, aims to ease the financial burden on parents and encourage regular school attendance among children from low-income households.

Speaking during the exercise, Kalu reiterated his commitment to improving access to quality education, describing education as a critical foundation for social and economic development. He noted that providing basic learning materials helps create an enabling environment for pupils to thrive academically.

Community leaders, school administrators, and parents who witnessed the distribution praised the senator for the gesture, saying it would significantly reduce dropout rates and boost pupils’ morale. Some headteachers confirmed that many families struggle to afford uniforms, making the intervention timely.

The uniform distribution is part of a broader set of interventions by the lawmaker in Abia North, which include scholarships, classroom renovations, and learning material support for schools across the district.
