The Kaduna State government has announced that its 2026 budget will be fully financed without resorting to fresh borrowing.
Mukhtar Monrovia, the state commissioner for planning and budget, said Uba Sani has not borrowed any funds since assuming office, dismissing claims that the state plans to take new loans in the 2026 fiscal year.
In a statement issued on Saturday, Monrovia explained that the 2026 budget would be funded through statutory allocations from the federation account, internally generated revenue (IGR), and grants.
He clarified that reports suggesting fresh borrowing were based on a misunderstanding of the “loan drawdown” component captured in the budget documents, stressing that it does not indicate plans for new loans.
According to the commissioner, the administration remains committed to fiscal discipline and prudent financial management while sustaining development projects across the state.
