The Kaduna State chapter of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) has dismissed claims by former governor Nasir El-Rufai that the party’s structure had collapsed into the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition.

In a statement on Monday, the SDP State Chairman, Adamu Idris, described El-Rufai’s remarks as “spurious, misleading, and politically mischievous.”

Idris stressed that the SDP in Kaduna remains intact and has no intention of dissolving into the coalition led by the ex-governor. He accused El-Rufai of trying to create confusion within the party for selfish political purposes.

According to him, the party maintains “robust and functional structures across all 23 local government areas of Kaduna State,” adding that no propaganda could undermine its relevance in the state.

“The attention of the leadership of the SDP in Kaduna State has been drawn to a reckless statement credited to Mallam Nasir El-Rufai suggesting that our entire structure has collapsed into the ADC. This is not only false but laughable,” Idris stated.

He further described El-Rufai as “a non-democrat, a self-serving desperado, an unrepentant bigot, and tyranny personified,” noting that his short-lived membership of the SDP brought only crisis and division. Idris added that peace had since returned to the party, which is now better positioned for credible opposition politics.
