Fresh details have emerged about the political maneuvering behind efforts to float a new political party — the All Democratic Alliance (ADA) — aimed at challenging President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.
According to report, the move was driven by a coalition of northern elites and southern politicians, including the Atiku Abubakar-led National Opposition Coalition Group, the League of Northern Democrats (LND), and other influential southern stakeholders.
Efforts to adopt existing parties — including the All Democratic Alliance and the Social Democratic Party (SDP) — as the coalition’s platform reportedly fell through, prompting the consensus decision to register a brand-new party.
A former minister and one of the key figures behind the plan confirmed to our correspondent:
> “It was a collective decision by all interest groups. Atiku is involved, the LND is involved, and other key stakeholders have signed on to the new party registration.”
