INEC: No Decision Yet on Labour Party, PDP Disputes
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has clarified that it is yet to take any official decision concerning the ongoing internal disputes within the Labour Party (LP).
The clarification comes in response to media reports suggesting that INEC had recognized specific individuals as the National Chairman and National Secretary of the party.
According to a statement signed by Rotimi Oyekanmi, Chief Press Secretary to the INEC Chairman, the names of the LP’s national officers currently on INEC’s website were uploaded based on an earlier court order and are not connected to the recent Supreme Court judgement.
“The names of the National Officers of the LP had previously been uploaded to our website following a court order, not related in any way to the latest judgement of the Supreme Court,” Oyekanmi said.
