The 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, has declared that he is now better prepared to confront Nigeria’s deepening economic and security challenges if given the opportunity to lead the country in 2027.
Obi said his experience from the 2023 general election, combined with continuous engagement with Nigerians at home and in the diaspora, has strengthened his understanding of the nation’s problems and the solutions required to address them.
According to him, Nigeria’s worsening economic indicators, rising poverty levels, unemployment, and persistent insecurity demand competent, disciplined, and transparent leadership focused on production rather than consumption.
The former Anambra State governor noted that leadership must prioritise investment in education, healthcare, and job creation, while also restoring confidence in governance through accountability and prudent management of public resources.
Obi stressed that Nigeria has no shortage of human and natural resources but has suffered from years of poor leadership choices and misplaced priorities.
He reiterated his commitment to a united, productive, and secure Nigeria, adding that the country’s future depends on leaders who are willing to make tough but necessary decisions in the national interest.
