The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to restore security in parts of Kwara State affected by banditry and criminal activities.

Speaking during a security engagement with stakeholders and police officers in the state, the police chief said the force has launched intensified operations aimed at reclaiming communities currently under threat from bandits and other criminal elements.

Disu noted that the police will deploy additional personnel and resources to strengthen security across vulnerable areas, particularly rural communities that have recently experienced attacks.

According to him, the renewed operation will involve coordinated efforts between the police, other security agencies, and local communities to track down criminal groups and dismantle their networks.

โ€œThe Nigeria Police Force remains committed to protecting lives and property. We will not allow criminals to take control of any community in Kwara State,โ€ the Inspector-General stated.

He explained that intelligence gathering and community collaboration will play a major role in the ongoing security strategy, urging residents to provide useful information that could help security agencies identify and apprehend criminals.

The police boss also reassured residents that the force will maintain a strong presence in the affected areas until normalcy is fully restored.

In recent months, some communities in Kwara have raised concerns over rising incidents of banditry and kidnappings, prompting calls for stronger security intervention from the federal government.

Disu said the police are determined to ensure that peace returns to the affected communities and that residents can go about their daily activities without fear.
