Group Berates Deputy Senate Leader Over Alleged Ethnic Bias

A socio-cultural group, Orisun Igbomina, has criticized the Deputy Senate Leader and Senator representing Kwara South, Lola Ashiru, for what it described as an open display of ethnic bias during a recent town hall meeting in Offa, Kwara State.
In a statement signed by its National President, Chief Gbenga Awoyale, the group accused Ashiru of making divisive and insensitive remarks unfit for a representative of a multi-ethnic district.
The group alleged that Ashiru’s comments revealed indifference to insecurity challenges in Igbomina communities, claiming his actions suggest a focus on sectional political interests and governorship ambitions rather than equitable representation.
Awoyale also argued that Ashiru’s claim of attracting ₦6 billion worth of projects to Offa contradicts the underdevelopment in other parts of Kwara South, describing the senator’s conduct as politically manipulative and detrimental to unity.
