Fubara, allies absent as Rivers holds LG polls

The suspended Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, and his loyalists were noticeably absent during Saturday’s local government elections across the state.
Fubara, who hails from Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Area, did not show up at his polling unit in Ward 5. Sources said he was not even in the state while the polls held.
His close associates — including Chief of Staff Edison Ehie, Secretary to the State Government Tammy Danagogo, and the sacked 23 LG chairmen — also shunned the exercise.
Similarly, members of the Simplified Movement, a political group backing Fubara, were missing at voting centres.
