Fayose Acquitted of N6.9bn Fraud, Weeps in Court

Former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose was cleared of N6.9 billion fraud charges on Wednesday by the Federal High Court in Lagos.

The court, presided over by Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke, upheld a no-case submission filed by Fayose and his company, Spotless Investment Limited. The judge ruled that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) failed to establish a prima facie case.

Overcome with emotion, Fayose knelt outside the courtroom in tears, thanking God for what he called his vindication. He hugged his lead counsel and embraced Olalekan Ojo (SAN), who represented Spotless Investment and joined in the no-case submission.

In a celebratory moment, the former governor broke into song, chanting “Winner ooo, winner!” as supporters cheered his acquittal.
