Family, Amnesty International Slam FG Over Dadiyata’s Six-Year Disappearance

The family of Abubakar Idris, widely known as Dadiyata, has once again called on the Federal Government to take responsibility and provide answers about his mysterious disappearance, six years after he was abducted from his home in Kaduna.
Dadiyata, a university lecturer and outspoken critic of the government on social media, was taken by unknown men on August 2, 2019, shortly after returning from work. Since that night, he has not been seen, and his vehicle remains missing.
At a press conference held on Saturday in Kaduna and organised by Amnesty International, Dadiyata’s immediate elder brother, Usman Idris, described the family’s anguish as “an endless nightmare.”
> “It has been six years of pain, uncertainty, and silence,” Usman said. “Abubakar was not a criminal or a terrorist. He was a lecturer, a husband, a father, and a citizen who used words, not weapons, to challenge injustice.”
He recounted how the night of the abduction remains etched in the family’s memory and how the trauma has taken a heavy toll on them emotionally and financially.
