False Reports’ — Kano Assembly Says No Plan to Impeach Deputy Governor
The Kano State House of Assembly has dismissed reports suggesting that lawmakers are plotting to impeach the deputy governor of the state, Aminu Gwarzo, describing the claims as false and misleading.
Addressing journalists on Saturday in Kano, the spokesperson of the House, Kamaluddeen Shawai, said there is no impeachment process before the Assembly and no discussion whatsoever aimed at removing the deputy governor from office.
Shawai explained that the reports circulating on social media and some online platforms were unfounded and did not reflect the position or activities of the legislature.
“There is no plan by the Kano State House of Assembly to impeach the deputy governor. Such reports are entirely false and lack any basis,” he said.
He urged members of the public to disregard the rumours, stressing that the Assembly remains focused on its constitutional responsibilities of lawmaking, oversight, and representation of the people of Kano State.
The spokesperson also cautioned against the spread of unverified information capable of creating unnecessary tension in the state, noting that the leadership of the House maintains a cordial working relationship with the executive arm of government.
The clarification comes amid heightened political speculation within the state, which the Assembly insists should not be allowed to distract from governance and service delivery.
