Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, and six African Democratic Congress (ADC) leaders have been invited by the police over allegations of criminal conspiracy, incitement of public disturbance, mischief, and causing grievous hurt.

The letter, dated September 4, 2025, and signed by DCP Uzairu Abdullahi of the CID, directed them to appear on September 8. Those listed include El-Rufai’s former Chief of Staff, Bashir Sa’idu, and other close allies.

The summons follows violent clashes during an ADC meeting in Kaduna, where thugs reportedly attacked attendees. The police blamed El-Rufai, though he denied involvement.

The situation escalates ongoing tensions between El-Rufai and his successor, Governor Uba Sani, after political disputes and by-election losses.

Meanwhile, Atiku Abubakar and the ADC accused the Federal Government of intimidation and witch-hunt, condemning the police action.

The Kaduna State Government also accused El-Rufai of provocation and attempts to destabilise the state, citing his recent comments that government policies were “empowering bandits.”
