A campaign group supporting the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed confidence that its candidate, Dr Wole Oluyede, will defeat incumbent Governor Biodun Oyebanji and other contenders in the 2026 Ekiti State governorship election.

The group made the assertion while addressing journalists on preparations ahead of the election, saying the PDP is positioning itself as a credible alternative to the current administration in the state.

According to the campaign organisation, Dr Oluyede’s candidacy represents a fresh direction for Ekiti, anchored on good governance, economic development and people-oriented policies.

The group said growing dissatisfaction among residents over issues such as unemployment, infrastructure and the cost of living would work in favour of the PDP during the polls.

“Ekiti people are ready for change. With Dr Wole Oluyede, the PDP has a candidate who understands the challenges facing the state and has the capacity to deliver,” the group stated.

It added that the PDP is intensifying grassroots mobilisation across the 16 local government areas of the state, expressing confidence that the party would reclaim power in 2026.

The campaign group also called on party members to remain united and focused, stressing that internal cohesion would be critical to achieving victory at the polls.

Governor Oyebanji, who was elected under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), is yet to officially declare his intention to seek a second term, though political activities ahead of the 2026 election have begun to gather momentum across the state.

The Ekiti governorship election is expected to be keenly contested, with major political parties already stepping up consultations and strategy ahead of the race.
