Ekiti 2026: PDP Aspirant Peter Obafemi Criticises APC Government’s Performance

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant in Ekiti State, Peter Obafemi, has faulted the performance of the All Progressives Congress (APC) government in the state, describing its three-year record as “very low.”
Obafemi, an aviation expert, officially declared his intention to contest the 2026 governorship election on Friday in Ado-Ekiti. He expressed confidence that the PDP was poised to return to power, citing the public’s growing dissatisfaction with the current administration.
Calling for unity within the PDP, he urged members and leaders to avoid rancour and divisions, stressing that only a united party could replicate its electoral victories of 2003 and 2014.
Unveiling his campaign motto, “Ekiti First,” Obafemi pledged to prioritise peace, security, economic growth, and prudent management of the state’s finances. He accused the APC government of lacking visible achievements, adding that Ekiti had endured almost 29 years of political stagnation since its creation.
“For too long, our state has been plagued by inequality, injustice, and corruption. The voices of the marginalised have been silenced. But today, we say enough is enough,” he declared.
Obafemi vowed to use the PDP platform to “rescue” Ekiti State from what he called “years in the wilderness” and to build a better future for its people, communities, and the next generation.
