EFCC Explains Arrest Of VeryDarkBlackMan, Outlines Conditions For Release
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has shed light on the recent arrest of Martins Innocent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkBlackMan, stating that the move was in response to multiple petitions alleging financial crimes.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the EFCC revealed that the social media personality had failed to respond to several official invitations delivered through his known addresses and communication channels.
“These petitions involve serious allegations of financial misconduct that the Commission cannot ignore,” the agency said.
The EFCC also cautioned against what it described as “unguarded attacks” by the suspect on its operations, stressing that it has the legal authority to detain him as part of an ongoing investigation.
“A valid Remand Order was obtained, and Otse has been granted administrative bail. He will be released upon meeting all the stipulated bail conditions,” the statement added.
