The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, has called on Nigerians to take a firm stand against corruption in 2026, urging citizens to embrace integrity, accountability, and transparency in both public and private life.
Olukoyede made the call during a public engagement aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s anti-corruption drive, where he stressed that the fight against graft cannot be won by government agencies alone, but requires the collective resolve of Nigerians.
According to him, corruption remains one of the biggest obstacles to national development, undermining economic growth, weakening institutions, and eroding public trust. He noted that rejecting corruption at all levels is critical to building a prosperous and just society.
The EFCC boss said the commission would continue to pursue its mandate without fear or favour, while intensifying public sensitisation and enforcement efforts across the country. He also urged citizens to report corrupt practices and refuse to participate in acts that compromise national values.
Olukoyede added that the anti-corruption campaign aligns with the federal government’s Renewed Hope agenda, which seeks to restore confidence in governance and reposition Nigeria for sustainable development.
He reaffirmed the EFCC’s commitment to professionalism, due process, and accountability, assuring Nigerians that the commission remains focused on promoting ethical conduct and strengthening the rule of law.
