Edo guber: No chance of rigging this election — Peter Obi [VIDEO]
Ahead of the Saturday gubernatorial election in Edo State, Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, has vowed that the electorate would make it difficult for those plotting to rig the election.
Obi spoke on Wednesday in Benin at the grand finale rally for Olumide Akpata, LP candidate in the Edo governorship election.
According to the former governor of Anambra State, the era of election rigging is over in Nigeria, stating that anyone who tries to rig the September 21 election would be rigged.
“Election rigging is coming to an end in this country. This time around, anyone who rigs election, we will rig him.
“Nigerians are suffering every day with hardship and we cannot continue. That is what the Labour Party wants to change,” he said.
Obi also tasked the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC and security agencies to ensure a free, fair and credible election on Saturday.
He criticised state governors who often defer responsibilities to the federal government at the expense of their citizens, assuring that Olumide Akpata would not follow that path.
He called on the people of the state to turn out in large numbers on September 21 to vote for Akpata and his running mate, Yusuf Kadiri.
Prof. Datti Baba-Ahmed, Obi’s running mate in the 2023 presidential election, urged LP supporters to leverage their numerical strength to ensure the victory of their candidate.
