Edo Deputy Governor: Ovia By-Election a Test Run for 2027

Edo State Deputy Governor, Dennis Idahosa, has described the upcoming Ovia Federal Constituency by-election as a crucial test for the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking during the party’s flag-off campaign on Saturday, Idahosa urged APC leaders and members to intensify mobilisation and canvassing efforts to ensure victory. He emphasised that a win would signal the party’s readiness for the next general polls.
Highlighting the achievements of Governor Monday Okpebholo, the deputy governor noted ongoing infrastructural projects aimed at improving the lives of residents in the constituency.
At Siluko Ward, which he described as a gateway into Edo State, Idahosa called for more development and urged voters to back the APC on election day to enable the governor to deliver further progress.
“Saturday’s by-election is to show our preparedness for the 2027 general election. I want it to be a 100 per cent win for the APC,” he said.
