Eagle Hunt Went According to Plan 😄 Nigeria Beat Tanzania 2–1 in AFCON Opener
Nigeria national football team began their Africa Cup of Nations campaign on a winning note with a 2–1 victory over Tanzania national football team in their opening group match of the tournament.
Nigeria started the game brightly, dominating possession and pushing forward with confidence. Their early pressure paid off in the 36th minute when Semi Ajayi opened the scoring, calmly finishing to give the Super Eagles a deserved lead.
After the restart, the Eagles maintained their momentum and doubled their advantage in the 52nd minute through Ademola Lookman, whose composed effort put Nigeria firmly in control of the encounter.
Tanzania, however, showed resilience and pulled one goal back through Charles M’Mombwa, raising the intensity of the contest and putting Nigeria under brief pressure.
Despite Tanzania’s late push for an equaliser, the Super Eagles stayed disciplined defensively and managed the game well to see out the victory and claim all three points.
The win gives Nigeria a strong start at the Africa Cup of Nations and boosts confidence ahead of their next group fixture, while Tanzania will be aiming to bounce back in subsequent matches.
