Former Kogi West Senator, Dino Melaye, has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), criticizing the party’s inability to address Nigeria’s worsening political situation.

In a resignation letter dated July 30, addressed to the PDP Ward 1 Chairman in Aiyetoro Gbede, Ijumu LGA, Kogi State, Melaye wrote:

> “This decision has become imperative due to the lack of potency and capacity by the party to deliver the Nigerian people from the prevailing political cankerworms that have eaten deeply into the fabric of our dear nation.”

Melaye, a known ally of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, is now a key figure in the African Democratic Congress (ADC), which has been adopted as the platform for a new opposition coalition.

He joins a list of prominent PDP members who have recently defected, including:

David Mark (now interim national chairman of the ADC)
Atiku Abubakar

Dele Momodu

Mark has warned coalition members to stay loyal to the ADC, stating there will be no tolerance for anti-party activities.
