A Niger Delta activist, Austin Ozobo, has commended the Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), Dr. Dennis Otuaro, for introducing reforms and spearheading a scholarship initiative that is already benefiting ex-agitators.

In a statement issued in Warri on Tuesday, Ozobo hailed Otuaro for deploying over 142 beneficiaries to pursue postgraduate studies in the United Kingdom, describing the move as a landmark step in human capital development for the region.

He said the new direction under Otuaro has “given a facelift to the Niger Delta Presidential Amnesty Programme, which was completely bastardised by previous administrations.”

Ozobo urged critical stakeholders to support the PAP Administrator so that his reforms can be effectively implemented. He also encouraged individuals with genuine concerns to engage Otuaro through proper channels, noting that the administrator is “accommodating, detribalised, friendly and ever ready to address every genuine concern.”

The activist further congratulated the successful beneficiaries of the foreign scholarship initiative, advising them to make good use of the opportunity and shun actions that could lead to their repatriation.

Meanwhile, Otuaro emphasised that the selected beneficiaries were placed in competitive and professional courses aligned with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, aimed at boosting socioeconomic growth in the Niger Delta.

As part of the initiative, the PAP also distributed laptops to the scholarship recipients to aid their research and academic work abroad.
