Defamation Case: Suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan Appears in Court

Suspended Senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, appeared at the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Maitama, Abuja on Wednesday for her arraignment on criminal defamation charges.

Akpoti-Uduaghan arrived at the courtroom at approximately 10:30 a.m., ahead of the scheduled proceedings set to begin at 11:00 a.m. The case is being presided over by a judge of the FCT High Court.

The charge, marked CR/297/25, was filed by the Director of Public Prosecutions of the Federation, Mohammed Abubakar, on behalf of the Federal Government. The Senator is the sole defendant in the matter.

According to court documents, the Federal Government alleges that Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan made defamatory statements against Senate President Godswill Akpabio during a live broadcast on Channels Television’s “Politics Today” on April 3, 2025.
